4Discussion of the FindingsThisstudy worked on teachers’ perspective regarding to Interchange 1 textbooksversus Vision 1 textbook. The present study conducted among 42 EFL teachersfrom different institutes and high schools in Gorgan. Independent sample t-testwas used to analyze data. The main discussion of this study is presented infour phases; so, the answers of the first, second, third and fourth researchquestions are put forward. Taking the first research question into account, thediscussion deals with investigating relationship in the general appearancesection of Interchange 1 textbook and Vision 1 textbook from teachers’perspective.
Concerning the teachers’ respondents, the results showed thatthere was no significant relationship in this section of these two textbooks.This finding is in line with Pourahmadi, Naderi and Heidarpoor’s (2015)finding. They found that general appearance section of high school textbooksdid not meet students’ need. Regardingto second research question which investigated the relationship between designand illustration section of Interchange 1 textbook and Vision 1 textbook fromteachers’ perspective. The results showed that there was no significantrelationship between these two textbooks based on teachers’ answers. Thisfinding is in line with Moghtadi’s (2014) finding who found that design andillustration part of high school textbooks performed weak in terms of functionand attraction.
According to third research questionthe results showed that there was no significant relationship in accompanyingmaterials’ section of Interchange 1 textbook and Vision 1 textbook fromteachers’ perspective. This results is in line with Kheirabadi and Alavi Moghaddam’s(2014) finding who found that, Iranian high school textbooks lacked propersupplementary materials. So, the finding was on the same side regarding thathigh school textbooks had weaker accompanying materials.
