The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces the laws of ADEA.
When there is an alleged act of discrimination, the employee needs to file a complaint through the EEOC within 180 days. More seniors are looking for side jobs after retirement. They often work part time so employers do not have to pay benefits, and they are at a lower rate- for being part time. Wal-Mart has really taken to hiring seniors as greeters at the front. Currently in the news is a big concern about the health care plan for the seniors. Along with the health care plan, there are also concerns about social security money being paid out and if the younger generation will have any when they are older. The government wants to protect all. • Is the number of aging population expected to rise in numbers or decrease?
The number of the aging population is expected to increase. Right now ones over the age of 85 are the fastest growing in the aging population. Someone turns 50 years of age every six seconds, so in one minute 10 people turn 50- that is a big increase. Approximately the number of those over 55 will double from 55 million people by the year 2030. Robinsons. gsu. edu reports that the people over 50 account for 43% of all us households. With the increase of the overall population growing of course the number in the aging population is bound to grow as well.

They are making less money, and for some their only form of income is the social security income. That alone is not a lot. As one gets older so does their heath, which means a lot of doctor visits and bills that pile up. For a lot of seniors they are not able to keep up with their houses upkeep and yard. Many volunteers will help rebuild these houses. Many seniors often times find it hard to get money for groceries.
