There is nothing more fun than a high school swim meet. It is my Junior year at West Ranch High School and third year on swim team. Swim meets are a fun way to test your skill against other schools. It brings the team together through the competition and friends closer. Swim meets are my favorite memory of high school so On the day of a meet, I leave class early and walk to the bus that takes us to the pool. Coach Worry takes attendance and has the captains load up the bus with equipment.
One everything is loaded and attendance is taken, we get into the bus. The short ride there is always exciting because the team gets pumped up during the ride. Once we all get there we are determined to win. Swimmers disperse from the bus to go change into their suits, or to unload and set up equipment. I changed at school so I head over to our side of the pool. Coach calls out”Five minutes tell warm. ” Me and my friends rush to get our caps and goggles ready before Coach Worry throws us into the pool.
Diving in I can feel my muscles loosen up and soon feel strengthen with my strokes, and ready to win my race. When warm Is done we get out, dry ourselves off and head over to the boards to find out what our events. This Is a suspenseful moment before you find out because you are not sure you are going to race your best event. Luckily I did get mine, the 200 yard freestyle. Relieved I got my event I hurried to the pool again to stay loosened until my race, event number five. It wouldn’t be another ten minutes tell my event Is p and I’ll be ready. Girls 200 yard freestyle” announced the referee. Its time! My race Is next! Im ready, I have my cap on and goggles tightened up and stretched out. The first long whistle blows and I stand up on the block. “Swimmers take your mark” said the referee. I bent down and tighten my muscles. “Beep! ” With all my strength I spring off the board and dive Into the water. The laps go by one after another and soon In on my last 50 yards. I look underwater to my left and right and don’t see anyone even close to me.
I push even harder to finish as strong as I can. Touching first I am filled with Joy and Wildcat pride. When warm is done we get out, dry ourselves off and head over to the boards to find out what our events. This is a suspenseful moment before you find out because until my race, event number five.
