Dr. people with scoliosis as someone weird, with

Dr. Ed C. Oliveros, the Director of Peak Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy Scoliosis Wellness Center in Marfori, Davao stated that there is no statistic yet here in the Philippines regarding scoliosis and there is no record of how many people are suffering in scoliosis here in our country. However, they conducted their Scoliosis Awareness Program last year in the month of June (2016) in Manila. They have screened 102 people for scoliosis and it came up that there were about 99 of them positive for scoliosis. They wanted that to be their first statistic. (Arado, 2017)6. How it affects the Filipino people? Leading to Philippines.-There’s lack of understanding about the physical deformation and children tend to be cruel against those who are different. People who claim to have normal spines might even see people with scoliosis as someone weird, with the bulging back, uneven shoulders and hips, or the funny way of walking. Worst, not much is known about scoliosis among Filipinos.Scoliosis is not well known to Filipinos. That is why some people may not understand the physical distortion and kids tend to be harsh to those who are unlike them. Some people who have normal spines could even see people with scoliosis as sometimes weird because of the bump in their back, with irregular hips and shoulders, and the way they walk, people find it amusing.7. Stating my research problem- Communicating to the health issues such as scoliosis is important for the people to be aware. In line with this, the study aims to determine the influence of communication to the perceptions of women regarding scoliosis. Therefore, the results of the study can help the concerned agencies or organizations such as Department of Health and Municipal Heath Units to promote awareness in scoliosis. 8. Why is the problem significant to be studied? Many people are suffering from scoliosis yet the said disease is not well known in our country. (Arado, 2017). Therefore, this problem is significant to be studied because there is lack of awareness in scoliosis and by identifying the perception of women, the researcher will be able to influence women’s beliefs toward the disease.
