The final step used in creative problem solving is refining solutions. According to Vincent R. Ruggeri, the three steps to follow are to ivory out details by determining exactly how solutions will be applied.
The next Step is to examine each detail for imperfections, and the last step is to make any improvements that Will eliminate the imperfections. When the thinker reaches a solution to a problem, and has worked through the deficiencies, the creative thinker must work through any issues to find how the solution affects Others. The original issue was having a flat tire and not being able to change the flat tire. Without proper tools and without proper knowledge I was stranded on the side of the road wondering what could do to get back on the road. The initial solution to my issue was having the workers that were currently on their lunch break from a construction site, help me by changing my tire from the flat to the spare in the trunk. In working out the details to fix my flat tire I had to think of not only my safety but also the safety of my one year old in the back seat.
I immediately went negative in my mind; even though knew positivist would get allow me to reach a solution faster. Ad an immediate challenge Of changing my mindset trot thinking how many people stuck on the side tot the road are hit by passing vehicles to what steps would take to avoid being a statistic, My first step was to evaluate my surroundings. Although was in a familiar city I was not near any one that knew. At the current time was traveling down the road with my son in the back seat I used my cell phone to call a friend and ask advice.
In the moment, a simple issue as a flat tire became a complex issue with the uncertainty of how to efficiently solve the problem and get back on the road. I ad the option of calling for roadside assistance through my insurance company, but how long would be on the side of the road vitiating for a truck to come assist? The next Step is to evaluate the solution by asking directing questions designed to make the argument more accurate. The first question is how to apply the solution? The measures used to rind the applications solution should be direct and concise. Next, what difficulties could arise with the solutions implementation and how to overcome them? A difficulty that could arise was the frustration of the men who were working but saw me stranded on the side of the road. Did they see me get a flat tire? Did the men want to assist? A solution for what thought would he frustration would be to ignore that was there and continue on their lunch break instead of stopping what they were doing to assist me.
After careful review of the issue of my flat tire I set the final steps to finding a solution that would work. With much thought decided the best way to get my son and me off of the side of the road and in to a shop where my car would be worked on was to ask the construction workers tort help. Stepped out tot my car and waved the men over and asked if anyone knew how to fix a flat tire.
To my amazement not only did all of them know how to tax a flat but everyone was willing to help. It turns out they were just waiting on my initial request before they approached. The men were able to get my flat changed to a spare without asking for anything in return. Once the flat tire was changed to the spare, I left the side of the road and drove to the nearest tire shop where I avgas able to get my tire fixed.
The harsh reality Of paying for a tire at the time was financially painful since I had no initial plans of purchasing one that day. Having a heart that knows the tire was fixed was a small price to pay for safely getting Off Of the did of the road and knowing my son would be safe riding with me.
