One way to ensure that we practice spiritual path with other Christian business practitioners is knowing the core aloes of Gospel principles and having the courage to live them in all parts of my life in my work and for the service of the common good would be a great way to identify and understand the significance of having a good personal core values and really understand what really means in entailing and promoting human dignity in my sphere of influence as Christian business leader.
By doing so, we integrate these core values into our decision-making process and we are more inclined to consider the impact of our decisions on others. Another important role in advancing and bringing to life ethical social reminisces is to develop personal visions for us and our respective communities and voicing this vision out. By doing so, we are sharing a common goal with our community and we are able to influence others to work towards similar visions, applying similar core values in the process. A final way to display ethical social principles in the business world is to be in service of those whom you lead.
It has been said that a good business leader is always the first to arrive and the last to leave. This quote can be interpreted to support this idea since an ethical business leader would put the common DOD before his/her own interests. This does not mean neglecting oneself in the process, but rather, it means proportioning what God wants and what is best for the community over any personal issues. This means that as a business leader, we would not think of ourselves as superior to those we serve. As a business leader, are elected to lead by example and in continued service of the common good.
By taking seriously the dignity Of others in my business decision-making this will surely promote integral human development while making my company more efficient, more agile, and more profitable as mentioned on the reading. I’ll give an example of a of a leadership implementation against Church’s social doctrine. When former President of the United States Harry Truman gave the order to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and then Nagasaki, 70,000 and 80,000 Japanese citizens, respectively, were instantly killed. Over 200,000 Japanese citizens were added to the death toll in the succeeding years due to burns and radiation poisoning.
Some individuals argue that this devastation was necessary to end World War 2 once and for all and that the deaths of Japanese citizens were warranted since many American lives were lost due to the Japanese kamikaze aids. The group, however, disagrees with these arguments because there is nothing ethical about choosing to end all those lives. Harry Truman did not display a good decision making when he made this decision because there is no moral core value lived out in choosing to kill. It was known that although the Japanese weren’t giving an unconditional surrender, they were already conditionally beaten.
Furthermore, the aftermath the bombing lasted years after, causing devastation, distress, and suffering. The door to nuclear-grade Weaponry has been opened and may harm many other nations in the future. The realization is that this definitely does not show a leader in service of the common good. The goal of attaining Japan’s unconditional surrender could have been achieved through less violent means. That’s why even the most powerful human dictator and even the most educated persons should learn to respect and encourage human dignity and to use their insights and skills for the general welfare in support of the common good.
As a student and incoming professional, we must see every challenges and opportunities as a social responsibility and act as leaders who serve God. Furthermore, the tutor states, “Successful businesses identify and seek to address genuine human needs at a level of excellence using a great deal of innovation, creativity, and initiative. They produce what has been produced before but often – as in the arenas of medicine, communication, credit, food production, energy, and welfare provision -they invent entirely new ways of meeting human needs. As students of DILLS, can say that supporting the culture of life, justice; international regulations; transparency; civic, environmental, and labor-standards; and the fight against corruption. I have done what I can to elf solve these problems given my available capacities. I have donated my resources, time, and effort to the less fortunate in times of calamities and in times of celebrations. Although these donations may not be enough to allow them to raise their standards or living, it would provide them with some form of comfort and happiness.
I am also currently helping solve the problems of brain drain and unemployment by putting in effort in doing my best in college. I also plan to build a successful career here in the Philippines to be of service to other Filipinos. I’ve learned that after I graduate and begin working, t is important that I really consider all the opportunities available to me and reflect on what God is calling me to do. It is more important to be faithful to our calling rather than to succeed, so we shouldn’t be selfish when making the decision on what career to pursue in life.
Furthermore, the calling of God does not stop at what career path we take, but it also includes how we will be contributing to the other aspects in our lives. It should also be part of our plans for the future to be actively involved in the Church and in our respective communities. As I begin working and start my career path, I’ve realized that just know how to communicate and integrate business/personal values in and outside the workplace. Should serve as an inspiration to others and be a good example.
In my career, in order to improve the sales process, I should apply the tools in finding engaging and closing prospects with the proper competence, good coordination and application of business ethics in the workplace.
